Jeffrey Feltman

Written by Nasser Kandil,

Jeffrey Feltman was never looks like the official description of his duty, when he was an ambassador of his country in Lebanon, it was just a title, but his position was the General Coordinator of the hostile actions against Syria and the resistance in the Levant. His donated powers by the National Security Council exceeded the powers of the American embassy in Damascus, and his Lebanese friends were in charge of securing the transferring of the correspondences, preparing the appointments with some officials in Syria within the network in which Feltman was an administrator, and which was and still include political figures, and field commanders in the war against the resistance and Syria, and among them those who become today notables of Al Nosrah Front and ISIS, they were the pioneers of the American Embassy in the days of Jeffry, (you can ask Bilal Dokmak).

When Feltman occupied the position of the Assistant of the American Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, his original duty was the preparation and the coordination of the war against Syria, using Beirut as a platform of communication on one hand, a logistic preparation and a political and informative accompaniment on the other hand. There were many who are still making fun of the sit –in which was organized and attended by the Prime Minister Fouad Al-Siniora and the Deputy Walid Jumblatt under the title ( If Homs becomes under the control of the Syrian army then we will all collapse) and they described it as Feltman’s sit-in.

When Feltman moved to the United Nations and wore the blue helmet and became a political assistant of the General Secretary, his actual duty was managing the negotiations for the account of his administration with the governments which his government does not have diplomatic relations with, such as Iran, or it broke off its relations with, like Syria. When Feltman was assigned in New York, the Administration of Barak Obama was ascertained of the impossibility of the collapse of Syria and Iran; therefore, it was obligatory to have the choice of the negotiation and under the mantle of the United Nations in order to make the political solutions. For those who do not remember, it is useful to remind them of the continuous visits to Iran which do not related to the nuclear file, but to the arrangements of the American –Iranian negotiation, especially which is related to the regional affairs in the area.

Feltman announces from Cairo that it is the time to resolve the crisis in Syria, and this was not mere a journalistic declaration to support the endeavors of the International Envoy Steffan De Mistura, he talked about Libya, Sudan, Yemen, and Palestine which all include similar international endeavors, but he did not say about those that it is the time for the political solutions. Although in Syria there were many international envoys before De Mistura, but he did not say that it is the time for the political solution. So why does he specify Syria especially now with the political solution?.

Feltman practically announces that all the attempts which have been made before the critical time to change the strength powers have failed, neither the buffer zone of Recep Erdogan is viable, nor the buffer line of the Vice President Joe Biden survived, nor the Israeli raids changed the equations, nor the launching of Al Nosrah Front was possible, nor the moderate opposition was real. The Syrian army is advancing especially in Aleppo, the only hope for having a place for an opposition that is related to America is to pay the cost which Syria demanded to facilitate the task of De Mistura, which is the close of the Turkish borders to prevent the passage of the arms and the militants.

The problem of Feltman today is that the sufficiency of the guarantees of De Mistura’s initiative has applied on its two aspects, one is concerned with Aleppo, and the other is concerned with the Turkish borders, and the talk about deploying observers will relate to the two aspects.

Feltman will pick up the phone and will call the Syrian Foreign Ministry, or maybe he already did that, he will inform the Minister and his deputy away from his international task that the American ambassador will return to Syria soon.
