Nasser Kandil wrote: The lie of the parliamentary extension

  • The municipal elections that some of which have been held in Beirut and Bekaa show that the security situation is under control and there is no fear of events that accompany these elections and threaten the stability.
  • The elections prove that the Ministry of Interior and the governmental and the security bodies are ready, willing and capable of bearing the responsibility of holding the elections.
  • There are neither technical not political nor security obstacles that prevent holding the elections.
  • The municipalities with the unanimity of the concerned and the observers are a source of anxiety and tension that is equal timesof what the parliamentary elections represent, because in the municipalitiesin addition to the political tension and its consequences, the tribalism of the families, the personal interests and what may follow are added.
  • The ability of accomplishing the municipal elections in Beirut and Bekaa makes the rest of the provinces a source of reassurance, the question is about the reason of extending the mandate of the parliament in a way that included a theft of a whole parliamentary mandate for deputies whose their mandate have ended with weak justifications.
  • The holding of the municipal elections in 2016 and the dodgingfrom holding the parliamentary elections in 2013 means a political decision in order to have control over the parliamentary decision which the deputies have taken for themselves without any excuse, because the 2016 is causing more anxiety than the year 2013.
  • The elections of 2017 are approaching; they will impose political considerations to search for adjustments for fear of surprises.
