Nasser Kandil wrote: The United Nations and Saudi Arabia

  • Saudi Arabia is the farthest country of the UN standards of charters and agreements which are related to the human rights.
  • There are no political rights neither for expressing, nor for writing, publishing, forming parties, standing for public positions, nor for the right to vote.
  • Absolutely no rights for woman.
  • No equal rights for the citizens especially when it is related to the rights of citizens versus those who belong to the royal family.
  • No right to sue with the royal family and the illegal organizations that are similar to militias that prosecute the citizens and punish them in the name of virtue.
  • The enjoyment of the public wealth and spending the public money is not ruled by a law and is not subject to accountability.
  • There are citizens who are deprived of their civil rights because of their religion.
  • The UN reports are devoid of any conviction or a prosecution for Saudi Arabia.
  • The call for enlisting the coalition which is led by Saudi Arabia in the war of Yemen on the black list due to the violation of the rights of children was outside the Saudi expectations, while removing the enlisting is an insult to the United Nations, and its laws, and a scandal ofits claims.
  • The speech of the Secretary-General about the reasons of removing the enlisting of the Arab Coalition from the black list due to Saudi threat of stopping funding the UN organizations is a resounding scandal that reveals how the UN resolutions are formulated in exchange of money.
  • Will we hear the voices of the Arab intellectualsand the world ones?
