Nasser Kandil wrote: Putin & Erdogan

  • It was announced that there will be a meeting that will combine the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Turkish President Recep Erdogan after normalizing the relationships between the two countries, and it was said that it will be hold at the sidelines of the Twentieth Summit in China in early next September.
  • The observers of the Turkish Saudi relationship know that the origin of the clash and the collision which resulted from the incident of the plane and its repercussions is being aligned on two opposite sites in the Syrian war.
  • It is certain that the if the clashed positioning continue between the two countries in Syria and as a result of its status at each one of them, then it is impossible to talk about any normalization while the two armies are in two opposite banks.
  • The value of the normalization is that it occurred through a Turkish positioning outside the illusions of the sultanate, and the function of the Russian conditions which were accepted by Erdogan was not just an easy solution for the issue of the plane but its linking with a radical political change.
  • The benefit of this Turkish positioning which has produced the normalization will lose its value if it remains to after September because July and August are two decisive months according to what Syria witnessed or what it will witness, and if the meeting between Putin and Erdogan has not occurred in these two months to culminate what the ministers or the supporters have reached to and to translate it in mutual plans that change the course of war then this means that the normalization has failed.
  • The meeting of Erdogan and Putin will be soon to translate the positioning of Turkey.
