• The Syrian military is characterized with a high strategic sense; quickly it realized what was represented by the incursion of ISIS a year ago in Palmyra as an expression of the expansion project which ISIS needs to restrict Damascus.
• Just for that, recapturing Palmyra was a priority that makes Syria condone the violations of the truce in order to employ them in mobilizing its necessary troops and to invest what it needs from the Russian support for a quick resolving in Palmyra.
• Today and after the victory of Aleppo Palmyra loses this priority despite the national importance for recapturing it, because it was replaced with Deir Al Zour.
• ISIS wants Deir Al Zour as a passageway to the South instead of Al Raqqa and Mosul which are threatened to fall from its control and the closure of the Turkish borders in front of it.
• Deir Al Zour is a passage for ISIS to the desert of Syria and Iraq towards the Jordanian and the Saudi desert as an articulated point on the borders of the four countries.
• Quickly the Syrian military leadership realized what must be done, so it granted the Russian partnership in Astana a similar success to the success of the truce a year ago, it has mobilized its elites and its ally the resistance and has prepared itself for a counterattack, its features started to emerge.
• The war on ISIS in Deir Al Zour is an option that expresses the Syrian strategic cleverness.
