Nasser Kandil wrote: Al Abadi and challenging Trump

  • The Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi faces the real test for his candidacy in the elections with the decision of the US President Donald Trump of banning the Iraqis from traveling to USA.
  • The preparations of Al-Abadi for a permanent successor to his predecessor Nouri Al Maliki is apparent for the Iraqis, through the permanent ensuring of Al-Abadi’s team to confront the political sect, which the opponents of Al-Maliki say that Al Maliki is its active symbol, Al-Abadi allied with the leader of the Kurds Masoud Al Barazani the first opponent of Al-Maliki.
  • Al-Abadi is shown as a supporter of the popular crowd and who recaptured the provinces occupied by ISIS in the era of Al-Maliki, and whose relation is successful with each of Iran and America.
  • The supporters of Al-Maliki responded that the concern of the liberation and the concern of the popular crowd are related where there is no role for Al-Abadi in them but to recognize the fait accompli, they say that the difference between the two men is that Al-Maliki has taken out the Americans and refused the renewal of their presence, so he was punished through the Kurds by preventing him from renewing his mandate, while Al-Abadi has returned the Americans and he made the Kurds hand over with more than the separation till they ruled Iraq.
  • The neutrals say that Trump’s decision is granting Al-Abadi the opportunity to present an image that responds practically to the accusations by meeting the recommendation of the House of the Representatives to treat the US nationals similarly.
  • The responding to Trump grants Al-Abadi stable leadership.
