Nasser Kandil wrote: Al-Nusra is a bet once, but a curse every time

  • After their defeat in Aleppo the leaders of the armed factions whose their terrorist history is not less than the history of the leaders of Al Nusra and ISIS have lived as the war generals who enjoy the meetings with the senior leaders in major countries, their demands and requests were given an ear, they are given the temptations in order to integrate them in the political process, and instead of paying humiliation and bitterness as a cost of the defeat, they tested the moral and the material outcomes.
  • The issue was to resolve their position toward Al Nusra front in word and deed and to dismantle their entanglement with it in geography in preparation to join to the war against it.
  • Because “What is bred in the bone cannot come out of the flesh” and the “old habits die hard” those have manipulated and have practiced the deception and in a favorable moment they returned to their alliance with Al Nusra.
  • Their bet was that they can achieve victories in Damascus and in the countryside of Hama.
  • The considerations of their illusions did not converge with the facts of the field.
  • Al Nusra has been defeated in Damascus, and it is defeated in the countryside of Hama.
  • Astana offers will not be repeated and neither the lamentation nor the mediation will benefit.
  • Douma will know the fate of Aleppo; it is the alphabet of Damascus’s security.
  • They will know that Al-Nusra is a bet once, but a curse every time.
