Nasser Kandil wrote: Ismail Haniyeh

  • Comparing with the difference made by Khalid Mishaal in changing Hamas policy, Ismail Haniyeh remained in Gaza despite the risks and was present in the field.
  • But neither Haniyeh nor Mishaal have changed the positions of Hamas towards Syria, on the contrary, they raised the flag of the French mandate in solidarity with the militants and whom they called revolutionaries; moreover, they did not change their positions towards the Muslim Brotherhood or towards glorifying the position of Erdogan to the extent of calling him the Caliph of Muslims.
  • The most important in politics is the position towards the settlement document which was adopted by Hamas and Haniyeh was elected to apply it.
  • It seems that Haniyeh is the most familiar with the administration of Gaza, regarding the need for Hamas in drawing the details of the authority rather than the demarcation of the resistance’s options.
  • Alienating Mahmoud Al-Zahar who is closer to the resistance forces which were represented by choosing Al-Sinwar for the leadership of Hamas in Gaza creates a balance between Al-Sinwar and Haniey in Hamas.
  • Haniyeh who knows Gaza is more capable than Mishaal to form this balance and to weaken Al-Sinwar and Al-Zahar, since he is not Mishaal who resides in hotels.
  • Protecting the settlement document which was demanded from Hamas by the Turks requires the presence of Haniyeh and the preparation for making Mishaal occupying a presidential position with Mahmoud Abbas in a unified government recognized by the West and the Arabs.
  • Haniyeh is a new Mishaal.
