Nasser Kandil wrote: The Syrian-Iraqi borders

  • It is known and stable that the ongoing confrontation under the title of preventing the Syrian-Iraqi connection across the borders forms the title of the US goals.
  • The attempt of the US prevention based on the fact that the eastern borders areas of Syria are three thirds; one with Jordan that ends in Tanf where the US base, a third between Al Tanf and Boukamal, and a third between Boukamal and Al Malikya.
  • In the first third there are the Jordanian-Syrian borders; being closer to them does not benefit the connection with Iraq, but it is a logistical need to protect the advancing forces to the borders.
  • In the second third, the Syrian army is progressing but its reaching to the borders does not make it in contact with the Popular Crowd or the Iraqi army, because the Iraqi parallel area is Al-Anbar where ISIS dominates.
  • In the third third, the Popular Crowd advances from the Iraqi side, faces with the presence of the Kurds and the Americans on the Syrian side except of Boukamal which is under the control of ISIS.
  • The available meeting point is Boukamal, so the US seeking is the arrival of militants supported by it from the base of Tanf before the arrival of the Syrian army which is heading eastward toward Deir Al Zour.
  • This is how the race goes.
  • The convergence across the borders means liberating the Iraqi Kaem and the Syrian Boukamal from ISIS.
