Nasser Kandil wrote: Riyadh’s hysteria from Sochi

  • The satellites funded by Saudi Arabia allocate half of their news all the time to host a group of Riyadh Conference of the Syrian opposition in a hysteria campaign against Sochi Conference for the Syrian dialogue for which Russia called and welcomed by the Syrian government, and which includes the different Kurdish groups for the first time in a dialogue under the title of the recognition of the unity of Syria and its sovereignty.
  • Moscow invited to the conference tens of parties and groups including the group of Riyadh which will boycott, but half of its components will attend as Ahmed Al-Jarba and a number of the coalition figures and some of those who are outside it from the opposition, who participated in the platforms of Cairo and Moscow as Hassan Abdul Azim, Haitham Al-Manaa, and Qadri Jamil.
  • The Turkish reservation is normal due to the presence of the Kurds, but it will not blow up the conference or the relationship and the cooperation between Turkey and Russia in Syria, especially because the conference is a prelude to arrange the Kurdish file in the light of the failure of the secession of the Iraqi Kurdistan and the consequences which resulted from the failure of the view of the Kurdish leaderships in Syria for the possibilities and the US promises.
  • The group of Riyadh feels marginalized as promised by the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
  • The Russian envoy Alexander Lavrentiev to Astana have visited Syria and has met the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, his visit has corrected the path of the conference which was under the name of “the people of Syria” and which was scheduled to be held in Humaimim, then it became the “National Dialogue Conference” in Sochi.
  • The unified negotiating delegation to Geneva will be governed by the results of Sochi through arranging realistic ceilings for the negotiating Riyadh delegation, not with the ceilings of Riyadh which the Russians felt tired from waiting the fulfillment of its promises.
