Nasser Kandil wrote: Al-Barazani and the brink of the abyss

  • The struggle between Masoud Al-Barazani who leads the power in Kurdistan despite the stepping down and Baghdad government is no longer a struggle on secession but on the future of the leadership of Al-Barazani in Kurdistan.
  • Baghdad does not aim at overthrowing Al-Barazani, but his problem is the continuation of the abandonment of gains which he achieved from outside the constitutional rights of the region, even by the ignoring of Baghdad, and which are no longer possible to leave, so this means his end.
  • Baghdad cannot retreat from applying the provisions of the constitution about the limits of the relationship between the region and the federal government, especially in the security sector, so this means having control over the areas outside the provinces of Erbil, AlSoleimaniya, and Dohuk and restoration of the borders, crossings, airports, and oil resources, and the track of its pipelines.
  • The Americans, the Saudis, and the Israelis wage a battle for the staying of Al-Barazani even by exerting pressure on Baghdad through sanctions, because the fall of Al-Barazani means the fall of everything that has been built in Kurdistan.
  • The forces of the resistance were accused with the fall of Al-Barazani, but they will not behold Baghdad what is above its capacity provided that it sticks to its constitutional rights.
  • The brink of the abyss is when Al-Barazani collides in order to prevent the Iraqi army from achieving what it has the right to have, so the matters may be out of control and the war will lead to the fall of Erbil and Al-Barazani together.
  • The fighting Peshmerga experience in front of ISIS three years ago reveals its fragility after it caused the threat of the fall of Erbil except for the arrival of units of the Revolutionary Guard under the leadership of the General Qassen Soleimani.
  • In Kirkuk there is two thousand and five hundred elements of Peshmerga who affiliated to Al-Barazani, they all fled upon hearing the news of the entry of the Popular Crowd to the city.
  • Al-Barazani’s risk of confrontation will lead to the fall of everything he built along with his allies.
