Nasser Kandil wrote: Bin Salman: Al-Assad is staying

  • Surely the Syrians do not wait neither the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman nor anyone else to tell them about the legitimacy of their President, since they do not build their position on others’ words, and the Syrian President do not grant such of these statements any value as he repeatedly said that what concerns him is his constitutional legitimacy granted by his people.
  • The value of Bin Salman’s words is political; it has no relation with legitimatizing the remaining of the Syrian President in his office. But it is important because it means clearly the acknowledgment of those who put the departure of the Syrian President at the top of their agenda that the mission failed and there is no hope for it
  • The value of Bin Salman’s words is that it came from Washington after several meetings with the American political, military, and security leaderships and the assessment of the situation in the region, which means that they left him declaring because he represents the most intransigent party among the allies to announce the end of task that crowned with abject failure.
  • Bin Salman’s message to the Syrian President to stay away from Iran was already revealed by Al Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah few weeks ago by saying that the Saudis have notified the Syrians that they are ready to normalize the relationships with them, to stop the war, and to bring their groups for a political solution under the presidency of the Syrian President in exchange for being away from Iran.
  • The value of Bin Salman’s words is that it came after the war of Ghouta, where the barter became wishing and recognition, so will those be convinced that the Syrian victory is so close.
