- The new Geneva round on Syria is held in circumstances that are different from the previous rounds, the military situation has radically changed, and what is so-called the armed opposition has no longer control on any area since the remaining geographic areas which are not under the control of the Syrian army have become under the control of America and Turkey.
- The round is held after Sochi Summit which brought together the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad through which they announced opening a political path and preparing for the end of the presence of the foreign forces.
- The round has been preceded by a Russian-American negotiation about a settlement in the south of Syria in which Al Tanf base will be dismantled, the armed groups will withdraw, and the Syrian army will deploy till the borders of the Occupied Golan and the Jordanian-Iraqi borders.
- The Russian-Turkish-Iranian sponsorship will focus on forming the committee dedicated to the constitutional affair, and the American participation in Geneva has become public along with Saudi Arabia and Jordan, which means linking the settlement of the South with the full settlement as the Deputy Secretary of State David Satterfield said.
- The ceiling of the political settlement has become clear; a government under the leadership of the Syrian President and the current constitution in preparation for new constitution and elections.
- Between the success of the political process and its relation with the preparation of the US and Turkish withdrawal from Syria and between a qualitative decisive military round this Geneva round is being held.
