After the constitutional powers in Iraq completed by the election of the President of the
Republic and the nomination of the Prime Minister, the tension prevailed in Iraq during
this year has reached to balances that included fierce confrontation, alliances, and
divisions in major blocs and the birth of new formations, after the parliamentary elections
and what preceded them as Saudi and American interventions were an important factor in
drawing these balances.
The Kurdish secession was one of the important events in the Iraqi political life
and in the regional and international balances surrounding it, followed by the Sadr
movement in the elections and then the position of the Prime Minister Haidar Al
Abadi towards the Popular Crowd and towards the American sanctions on Iran.
The results of the Iraqi constitutional track which was not culminated with
accomplished compromises, but it included implicit compromises has led to a
formula of winners and losers. It seems clear that the two big losers are the
Kurdistan Democratic Party which pays the cost of its secessionist project versus
the winning of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan which succeeded in overthrowing
the secession. And Dr, Haidar Al Abadi who lost his position towards the Popular
Crowd and the sanctions on Iran versus the winning of the Popular Crowd
through the Prime Minister Dr Adel Abdul Mahdi whom it elected.
Tomorrow, there will be who will say that the General Qassem Suleimani is the
winner in Iraq after he won in Lebanon.
