The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the US National Security Adviser John
Bolton made two visits to the region one to the Gulf countries and the other to Turkey
under one title “coordinating the efforts for the US withdrawal from Syria”.
The Americans know that their withdrawal weakens their group who feels unsecured, so
every one of them tries to search how to decrease the losses. The US Kurdish-Turkish-
Gulf relationships have one title for post- withdrawal stage to be close from Syria.
Washington is aware that Syria will be stronger and more capable to reap the outcomes of
the US withdrawal and to employ them in achieving more strength to Syria and
expanding the Syrian sovereignty, but it fears that this racing to Damascus will lead to
more losses.
What cannot be done by Washington is the structural contradiction in roles and groups.
Because what is between the Kurds and the Turks is bigger than the ability of America to
solve, while what is between the Gulf and Turkey are issues as the issue of the Muslim
Brotherhood, the crisis of Qatar, and the issue of killing Khashoggi, these issues are
culminated in the rivalry on leading the Islamic world.
Washington has to recognize that it lost and that it has to bear the aggravated
consequences of that loss.
