Nasser Kandil wrote: Lebanon: the Saudi reconciliation with Syria

There are many declared and undeclared signs of the closeness of the Saudi reconciliation
with Syria, because it is neither possible to imagine the visit of the Sudanese President to
Syria nor the handshake of the Foreign Minister of Bahrain with the Foreign Minister of
Syria in New York nor the resumption of the work of the UAE embassy without at least
Riyadh’s approval if it was not the motive itself.
 The path of reconciliation is in progress, and its first sign was the removal of the Foreign
Minister Adel Al Jubeir from the diplomatic work and turning him into a special envoy
who has the title of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and choosing a Foreign
Minister whom his history does not have what bothers Syria.
 In the 2007 reconciliation, the Saudi King and the Syrian President agreed to pave the
way for the visit of the Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri to Damascus who exonerated Syria
from the charge of the assassination of his father. So does Al-Hariri wait a 2018
reconciliation to be able to come to Syria?
 Some people are wondering whether the fate of Al-Hariri will be this time as the fate of
Adel Al-Jubeir. Thus the way will be passable in front of Tammam Salam or someone
like him. Because the priority is for a prime minister who did not antagonize Syria.
