 On such a day, the southerners of Lebanon started a popular movement under bullets and shells to
their villages crossing the minefields, returning unaffected by the militias and what they might do.
They were notified from the resistance leadership that it is the hour to return, because the agent
militias are dismantling, the occupation is going to depart, and because the popular participation
in the resistance actions is accelerating the liberation.
 The first sign of the march of popular return was to the occupied strip in the village of Qantara
near the sites of militias fortified in the village of Taybeh. Thousands were crowding on the
commemoration of the week of one of the town sons in the liberated village of Ghanduriya near
their occupied town when they heard the news of the dismantling of the militias existed in
Taybeh, they moved by their cars, open trucks, tractors, and motorcycles completing the first
episode of liberation.
 The greatness of the resistance experience lies in this harmony between its brave popular aspect
and the bold performance of its fighters. The popular presence proved its rare heroism especially
in the first beginnings, in the village of Maarakeh which resisted with boiling oil the occupation
soldiers and obliged them to go out of its streets, and the confrontation in the bridge of Rahal,
Zrariyeh, and Jibchit, in addition to the dazzling presence on the day of return in millions on the
last days of the War of July 2006, when the American rules were broken by linking the return of
the refugees with ending of the deployment of the UN troops and the Lebanese army to ensure the
control over bridges and to prevent the resistance from restoring its active presence in the
southern of Litani River. Therefore, the popular movement on the fifteenth of August was to
culminate the sacrifices of martyrs and wounded who fell by the cluster bombs and unexploded
shells while they were crossing the river or entering to their towns.
 In the commemoration of the Liberation Day, it is necessary to recall the important aspect of
foundation of the resistance, so that some of those who thought that the resistance was pure
military action be aware that it is a popular movement where the resistance fighters were its
fighting forefront.
