Maybe it is difficult for the Prime Minister Saad Al-Hariri to represent Lebanon at two summits
in Mecca; one is the exceptional Arab Summit under the title of confronting the so-called threats
of Iran, and the other is the traditional Islamic Summit which its date has been coincided with that
summit. Therefore, it is planned to be preceded by the Gulf and the Arab Summits.
At both summits there will be calls for dialogue, calming, and mediation between Iran and Saudi
Arabia, and there will be calls for the priority of confronting the danger of the Deal of the
Century and calls for just supporting Saudi Arabia.
Lebanon has to choose and the Prime Minister of Lebanon has to present an example that he
always calls for self-distance that it makes him separate between his titles as a head of a political
party supporting Saudi Arabia, and as a prime minister of Lebanon which committed to self-
distancing.
The success of the Prime Minister Al-Hariri in self-distancing will be a point of strength for him
and for his alliance with Saudi Arabia in such a confrontation between Saudi Arabia and Iran. But
his failure will mean his loss politically of an opportunity that is hard to be repeated in presenting
an example of an alliance that respects privacy that his father the Prime Minister Rafik Al-Hariri
has always mastered.
